Why Shaklee?

Do I Really Need Supplement?

Is it necessary? I am neither medical professional nor dietician/nutritionist, far from anything professional related to health. Personally, taking supplement for health maintenance never crossed my mind before. Why would I take it? Why wasting money when I can get the necessary vitamins from whole foods? Malaysia, especially Sabah blessed with abundant fresh foods. Why would I let more chemical goes into my body? For me, supplement is supplement which comes in a medicine-like bottle, a colorful pill, comes with a price, etc. Don't talk about taking it..

Supplement Is Necessary When..

When I say yes or no to something, I tend to justify. Whether I say it out or no, it's a different story. As a nursing mom for 2 plus manager and maid at my own home, it required me to be "energetic" and "alert" all the times (Even during night time, or else I can't feed my babies or change the diaper). Whole food never been a problem because I always keep stock and market is just few minutes away from home. My diet is quite good, I eat grains, vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy foods.. basically each from the food group. How much my body needs from each group, I don't know.. All I know, as long as I am full, feeling good, that's it. Hahaha.. Exercise? Yes, I do (By doing the household chores). Regardless, I was so tired before end of the day (at the same time, I want to breastfed my kids as long as they want). Then.. I start looking into this so called supplement. I think, at least I need multivitamin. Then the searching begins..

Natural or Synthetic Supplement? How to Tell?

Now that I am into supplement, there are ton of choices out there. Famous brand, less-famous brand, expensive, can-have, etc. As for natural vs synthetic, of course I choose natural. Is natural really natural? Hmmm.. Let's google. And I found this very informative article from these two links, that at least give me some clues about it (some of them really "technical" which I have no idea what's it all about):

I Choose Shaklee because..

I have admitted that I chose Shaklee over other brand for its famous marketing over the FaceBook, which emphasizes on breastfeeding. Of course I was looking for supplement that is safe for nursing mom because whatever goes into my body will transfer into my babies body too. Still in doubt whether I did choose the right brand, I continue do some readings from their website. I guess, their product philosophy really comforts me.

I also come across to this site, which compiles what health professionals say about Shaklee that affirmed me about my choice.

Phew!! I am feeling good.

Stay Calm, Mommy

Oo my God! I've just cleaned the house and before the whole floor dried, here comes the new mess. Never ending mess.. How to stop the mess? How to keep the house clean? After the kids go to bed? Hmmm.. I am not energetic enough to stay late just to sweep, mop, tidy up the house. No matter how much efforts I have put in on this house, the house will ended up messy. The household chores list will stay the same (or will be increased). Should I complain over these so called never ending jobs? I afraid complaining just make me looks older. I want to stay young.. (At least young at heart.. Looking younger will be a bonus.. Hahaha). How to stay young? Be grateful.. Looking thing at its positive side.. Stay calm.. Enjoy every moment.. And the list goes on (as we wish).. This quote is really an inspiration to me.

Hahaha.. The quote is so cute.. As cute as our little ones. Just excuse their mess as thing not gonna be the same 5 years from now (even tomorrow). Aiyoo.. Just start talking about the kids are growing up really make me sad. There will be no more "Mommy! Where are you?", "Mommy, my tummy is rumbling. I'm hungry", "Mommy, come back" and everything mommy.. I'm gonna miss these little lions

It is okay not to have all the household chore checklist checked by end of the day as long as I have a quality time with my super duper hyper kids. Hahahaa..

I don't know

There are lot of things I wanna share but I just couldn't decide which one to go first. There are plenty of reasons not to start and here I go.. No update for almost 5 days. The moral of the story is, if I kept delaying things, I won't be able to to start any because the hardest thing is to start something. Yes, to START something. I notice that once I have started.. I can't stop. The idea kept coming in that I couldn't find any suitable topic.

The bottom line is.. Start something NOW. The more we delay, the more longer we see the result. And the result is.. Only you and I know what result we wanna see in life. All the best, everyone!!

Tandem Nursing Journey (Part 2)

Both kids latching at the same time.. It was hard (especially during confinement period) at first, until I get used to it , which I think by the time the confinement period is over. Even so, it's never been easy when comes into napping and sleeping time. I think the boy was trying hard to find the comfortable position (I used to always nurse him to sleep). As time goes by, as he growing up, he made himself fit into whatever breastfeeding position I am. I guess he felt secure too, that he no longer come every time his sister latch. The best part when they latch together is, how close they are that the boy sometimes poke the sister's nose, the sister pinch the brother's forehead, etc. then stop for a while just to laugh then continue..

Yes, tandem nursing is not easy but it is doable and lovable. I don't know how long will they nurse but just thinking of they are growing up and some day stop nursing.. really made me sad. Apart from being in my womb through pregnancy, nursing is the next thing that made us so close to each other. And as I am writing this.. I have been 3 years plus in breastfeeding and still.. It is a blessing

Tandem Nursing Journey (Part 1)

When I first knew that I am pregnant with the second one, I have this mix feeling of excited, sad, afraid, etc. I was excited because.. It goes without saying that everybody are happy when they are pregnant. I was sad because my boy is going to share his mommy and daddy with "somebody". I was afraid because I cannot imagine how to be fair with 2 kids later.. I still breastfed my son (exclusively breastfed him.. On demand, zero bottle-fed) during and through pregnancy and was wondering how to breastfed 2 kids.. Shall I stop him so that I can focus breastfed to the second one? I heard about tandem nursing but can I manage to tandem nursing them? Will the second one get enough milk when they share? Will the first allow the second one to share? Ooo my God.. But I have this strong intention to continue breastfed my first one.. Even tho it was sometimes not so comfortable with the growing belly..

Even though there were many questions on my mind about tandem nursing, I still have this desire to do it. I search thru the web about it, and this quote really encourages me, "tandem nursing is doable". From that moment on, I set on my mind that I am going to tandem nurse my kids when the second one born. As my belly grows bigger and after I knew the gender, I started telling my boy that he will have a little sister soon and therefore he will have to share the "nenen". I told him mommy has 2 "nenen".. 1 for him and 1 for the sister. At 2 years plus, I don't think he really know what I mean but I take it as yes from him. (Hahaha.. Just to made me feel bette, I guess)

Then.. The little sister born.. When he came to the hospital to visit me and wanted "nenen", I gave it to him. I was wondering what will be his reaction when he sees me feeding his sister. I kept praying that it gonna be alright and yes!! When he came to the room (at the hospital) while I am feeding the baby, he just smile. After finished feeding the baby, he came to me and ask for his "nenen". I just wanna cry how understandable can he be (that was what I feel)..

At home.. This was the hardest part. Every time when I want to feed the baby, he also come and latch on the other side. Since it was the first time I have to feed 2 kids at 1 go, o my God..  How to position them so that both can latch?

Shaklee Slimming Set (Basic)

"I am slim but I have spare tyre on my tummy"

"I wish I am slimmer but is there any safe option out there? Will it cost me my salary of the month?"

"I am grateful for what I have now. I just wanna maintain my body."

"Is there any natural supplement out there that can help maintain my health condition? Maybe can make me slim too?"

Sounds similar? Have you ever crossed such thing in your mind? Well, slim, not-so-slim, however we view our physical and whatever we named it or categorize it into.. It's is all depend on our point of view. As long as we are in a good health, slim is a bonus. If our weight is ok based on our height, we satisfy with how our body looks like (it looks good on any clothes).. yeah, thank you Lord. This set that I am going to share is not for you. But it's okay to keep on reading..

This set consists of 3 products named, Vita Lea, Lecithin and Alfalfa Complex. Let's see how these 3 products can benefit us:

Vita-Lea: It's a multivitamin that specially formulated to provide you with 23 essential vitamins and minerals to promote overall health and vitality. When taken daily, it supports long term colon, heart, and eye health, promotes strong bones and a healthy immune system, and provides protection against free radical damages. (Source: http://www.leadinghealthylive.com) If you're think that you eat enough vegetables and fruits needed by your body everyday, then you can opt for not taking this. Hehehe

Lecithin: Lecithin is a nature's emulsifier (extracted from soybeans). In lay man terms, it is a supplement that can help in burning fat (eating this coupled with any suitable exercise will sure show quicker result). According to http://www.vitguide.com, the following are soy Lecithin benefits:
  1. Improves brain function. The main nutrient found in soy lecithin is phosphatidylcholine, also known as PC. PC is part of the membrane surrounding your cells and your body breaks it down into choline, which is widely known to be vital for the health of your brain. Choline is especially important for preventing memory loss and, in particular, preventing memory loss from old age.
  2. Promotes healthy weight loss. Lecithin hastens the breakdown of fats, aiding the whole process and as a result can boost metabolism. It has been used quite effectively as part of a healthy diet to promote weight loss. Best of all, since it is natural, lecithin allows your body to lose weight properly without relying on drugs that could cause harm in other areas of your health.
  3. Lowers cholesterol. The benefits of soy lecithin for lowering cholesterol are well known as it has been used for decades in treating patients with high cholesterol. It controls the flow of nutrients in and out of your cells and prevents the build up of fats in the walls of your heart, arteries and brain by breaking down the fatty deposits. For this reason, it not only benefits cholesterol levels, but also your cardiovascular health too.
  4. Prevents disease. There is also strong research that suggests the cell regulation benefits of lecithin may also have significant effects on brain and memory function, including possible improvements for Alzheimer’s, dementia, amnesia and more.
  5. Essential for liver health. Doctors and scientists have known for some time that lecithin and choline are both essential for liver function and health. By keeping liver fats dispersed in water, lecithin and choline can prevent those fats from accumulating. Also, because they control the flow of nutrients in and out, they can essentially flush out toxins from your liver before they cause harm.
Alfalfa Complex: It is a Shaklee Signature Formula originally developed by Dr. Shaklee in the 1950s. It is made of natural source of alfalfa (the king of the plants). One of the benefits of alfalfa is that it acts as a diuretic and a digestive as it is slightly laxative in nature. Alfalfa is also known to help in regulating the bowel movements and improving the digestion process which in turn helps in the better assimilation of the food consumed. (In lay man terms, it cleanses our colon.. so, the feeling after poo is sooo good because all those dirts that sticked on the colon's wall have been flushed out.. hehehe) Another one of the medicinal uses of alfalfa is that being a diuretic it is known to be very effective in the treatment of dropsy as well as the inflammation of the bladder.
